Roman Polanski’s latest movie, The Ghost, will premiere at the Berlin film festival in February 2010.

The fugitive film director is under house arrest in Switzerland pending the decision of Swiss authorities on whether to extradite him to the US, where he is wanted on 30-year-old charges.

California prosecutors last week called for Polanski to face court in the US to argue his case for having the charges of unlawful sex with a minor dropped.

Polanski, 76, took flight from the US in 1978 after admitting he had unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl at the house of actor Jack Nicholson, who was away at the time.

The Ghost stars Ewan McGregor and Pierce Brosnan and tells the story of a ghost writer hired to complete the memoirs of a former British prime minister who uncovers secrets that put his own life in jeopardy.

The movie will have its world premiere along with Shutter Island, directed by Martin Scorsese, at the highly regarded 60th annual Berlin festival from February 11 to 21.
