The no-nonsense beauty did not bother to dress up or don make-up when she was spotted at Barneys in Los Angeles.

Theron, 34, and mum Gerda checked out shoes in a low-key visit, during which observers noted the Oscar winner’s serious demeanour.

Theron has expressed concern with the celebrity culture she believes is overtaking acting. She earlier said: “Somewhere along the line we forgot what actors do. All of a sudden, somehow, the fashion industry crept into the movie industry. Celebrity has really taken over and overshadowed what actors do. Actors aren’t supposed to be beautiful, actors are supposed to tell human stories, but that kind of got lost.”

Theron has a long-term partner who she keeps well out of the limelight. She was born in South Africa.

Lindsay Lohan is planning to undertake charity work in Guatemala, her mother has said.

Earlier this month, Lohan visited India to film a BBC documentary, but she was criticised after claiming on Twitter that she had helped to save 40 children.

Speaking to a US newspaper, Lohan’s mother Dina said that her daughter is a “changed woman” since her trip.

She added that Lindsay was “humbled and moved” by her work and continued: “Lindsay definitely wants to give more back.

“We are now planning a trip to help the children of Guatemala – which will be filmed by Oprah’s network.”

New mum Kendra Wilkinson has revealed how her new son Hank is helping her get her Playboy body back.

Dawson’s Creek star Katie Holmes is reportedly desperate to get a tattoo, but her husband actor Tom Cruise is not really keen on the idea, according to reports.

Katie apparently got the idea after seeing Victoria Beckham’s tattoo on her wrist, which shows Hebrew words saying ‘Together, Forever, Eternally’ to mark her 10-year anniversary with her husband.

Tom is not really keen on the idea of Katie getting it.

A source said: “He’s desperately trying to talk her out of getting the tattoo.”

Cuba Gooding Jr, lauded for his star turn in Jerry Maguire, is being sought for a movie role to play fallen golf hero Tiger Woods, according to a UK report.

Gooding played the taciturn Rod Tidwell alongside Tom Cruise’s unforgettable Jerry in the movie about a footballer desperately seeking stardom. A source is reported as saying: “Word on the street is that Naomi Campbell is about to file for Chapter 11.”

According to the star’s representative, the debt rumours are “completely untrue”.

Charlie Sheen is expected to resume taping his hit sitcom Two and a Half Men next week, a friend of the actor has revealed.

The source also corroborates various reports now surfacing that claim family members suggested to Sheen – before the alleged Christmas Day incident with wife Brooke Mueller that landed him in jail – that he not join her in Aspen.

Sheen was “warned” not to go, says the friend, since the couple were having marital problems.

TV beauty Kim Kardashian fell victim to a cheeky monkey while visiting pal Ashton Kutcher – when a magician’s simian sidekick peed on her.

Curvy Kim told how she initially loved the monkey, which was being used as part of a magician’s act.

But she wasn’t so enamored with it when it did its monkey business all over her.

Kim wrote on her website: “I stopped by Katalyst while Ashton Kutcher was filming! They had this little monkey that the magician, Dynamo, made appear!

“I thought he was really cute at first, but then he peed on me!! Ashton said the monkey had pooped on him, so I didn’t feel too bad, haha. Gross little monkey!”

Supermodel Tyra Banks is ending her US talk show after five years.

The catwalk beauty has announced the next season of The Tyra Show will be the last.

She plans to focus on the launch of her film production company Bankable Studios.

Tyra told fans on her website: “This will be the last season of The Tyra Show.

“I’ve been loving having fun, coming into your living rooms, bedrooms, hair salons for the past five years.”

She added: “Your love and support is always felt by me and it’s given me the courage to take more exciting steps in my life. I thank you for that.”

The show’s most memorable moments have included Tyra revealing her real hair and donning a fat suit.

She revealed her production company’s projects will include movies and told fans: “My next huge steps will allow me to reach more women and young girls to help us all feel as fierce as we truly are.”

Renee Zellweger was radiating joy and Christmas spirit in recent days as she hosted Bradley Cooper’s parents in Los Angeles.

Brittany Murphy was juggling a number of movie projects in the months leading up to her sudden death, according to reports.

The 32-year-old is set to be buried in a private ceremony after suffering a fatal cardiac arrest at the weekend.

A British newspaper reports that Murphy had just completed two indie thrillers and was about to start work on a romantic comedy.

Abandoned director Michael Feifer said that the actress was dedicated to her art. “She knew her material. She was on her game, she was professional, she was there for me, she was healthy,” he said.

Scott Chambers, executive producer of Something Wicked, told the Los Angeles Times that Murphy was frail, but had a good work ethic. Chambers has also denied reports that Murphy lost consciousness while on the set of the thriller.

Angelina Jolie believes that fidelity is over-rated.

“Neither Brad nor I have ever claimed that living together means to be chained together. We make sure that we never restrict each other. I doubt that fidelity is absolutely essential for a relationship,” she said.

Tiger Woods’s wife Elin Nordegren is reportedly facing a loss of at least $30million if she opts for an early divorce.

Though spotted without her wedding ring, Nordegren is still on the fence about divorcing him, the UK Mirror reports.

A top US divorce lawyer has estimated Nordegren could expect just $20million of the star’s estimated $1billion fortune if she walked out now.

Celebrity divorce lawyer Raoul Felder said Nordegren would be “financially ill-advised” to do so.

Nordegren, 29, was widely reported last week to be “100 percent on” for a divorce. She was estimated to be receiving $100million.

But Felder says if Nordegren divorces Woods immediately she would only be entitled under Florida law to the $20million she agreed in her 2004 prenup. Should Nordegren stay with her marriage for another two years, her legal team could possibly get her an additional $55million.

Meanwhile, the attractive blonde is set to spend the Christmas break with her family in Sweden.

Celebrities will have to carry their own luggage into the Celebrity Big Brother house when the show starts again in January.

Model Claudia Schiffer was rescued from the Channel Tunnel after snowy weather trapped five Eurostar trains, sparking fury with other passengers.

The supermodel was one of thousands of passengers who were trapped in the tunnel for 10 hours when a blizzard came down across the UK.

However, some were not impressed that the 39-year-old hopped in a car when others were left behind.

One passenger, Gregoire Sentilhes, said: “We spent the night inside the tunnel. At 6am we were taken out of the train by firemen. We walked for around a mile with our luggage.”

He added: “One couple were trying to get to their son’s wedding, which was at 11 this morning. Claudia Schiffer was also on the train but a car came right by the train to pick her up from the entrance to the tunnel.
